Ellen Heimer: Multi-Media

Artist Ellen Heimer creates under the name “Dead & Lovely.” Inspired by death and momento mori art, Ellen creates portraits with a respect and curiosity for insects, small life forms, ethical taxidermy, and celebrating life. Pulling inspiration from her natural surroundings and the Victorian Era, her work reflects the natural beauty of life and decay. She works mainly with found materials including antique photographs, cloche domes, and shadowboxes full of moths, cicadas, bones and dried floral arrangements. Ellen enjoys creating her work while her young son plays nearby, often collecting supplies on their walks in Cape May.
